HARRIERS. ST. PATRICK’S CLUB. Fine weather prevailed for the second and final sports day of the St. Patrick’s Harrier and Amateur* Athletic Club. Thanks to the co-operation of the competitors and the hard work of the officials everything was completed without a hitch. Some fine performances were witnessed, and competition was keen. The race for the pupils of the Christian Brothers' High School was contested by a fair number of very keen contestants, and resulted in a win for V. M’Carten. The club events resulted as follows: — 220 yards handicap: M’Cartney (12yds) 1, Carvalho (15yds) 2, W. C. M’Donnell (12yds)>3. 440 yards handicap: M’Cartney (30yds) 1. Airey (scr) 2. 880 yards handicap: M’Cartney (75yds) 1, Robertson 2. High jump: H. M’Donnell (6in) 1. Ryan (6in) 2, Robertson and Daly, dead heat, 3. Hop, step, and jump: Hogan (54in) 1, Robertson (96in) 2, M’Gettigan (48in) 3. The aggregate totals for the sprints and field events trophies resulted as follows: — F. M’Cartney, 26 points, 1; R. Carvalho, 13 points, 2; Robectson, 6J points, 3. A club team wil] be competing in the relay at next Saturday’s sports, besides several individual members. lhe club walk to Waitati set down on the syllabus for next Saturday has ber-n cancelled, and instead a walk will be helij to Evansdale on Sunday afternoon, October 6.
