Van Rvan defeated Frank Shields S—G, G—4, G—2. PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY KOZELUH. NEW YORK, September 2S. At Forest Hills Kozeluh won the national professional lawn tennis championship on Saturday, defeating Richards, 6 —4, G—4, 4 —6, 4.—G, 7— 5.

OTAGO ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association was held on Friday evening, Mr S. G. Al'Dougall (president) presiding. Air L. F. Cleghorn offered the association a trophy for competition to be awarded as the committee considered best. -—lt was resolved that a men's champion of champions competition be arranged, and the cup awarded to the winner of this contest A sub-committee consisting of Messrs A. T. Jensen, R. Phillipps, and K. Webling was appointed to draw up rules and regulations to govern this competition.

Air J. S. Sinclair also offered a trophy to be awarded to the winner of the men’s championship singles at the Otago championships.— It was resolved to thank Afessrs Cleghorn and Sinclair for their gifts, which, it was considered, would stimulate more interest in the game. A number of applications for coaches were received from several clubs, and the following members offered to coach the following clubs:—R. Phillipps (Waimana), A. T. Jensen (Opoho), Mr Pollock (Triangle), W. Bray (St. Andrew’s), S. N. Brown (St. Clair). It was left in the hands of the president to endeavour to get further senior players to coach other clubs requiring the services of a coach, secretaries of clubs to be requested to get in touch with the coaches and make arrangements with them as to the evenings they should visit the clubs. The following sub-committees were' appointed for the season:—Match Committee —Messrs W. Bray (convener), E D Duthie, R. Bradley and A. T. Jensen; Competition Committee—Messrs A. T. Jensen (convener). A. Phillippp. T. Gritnsdale, and J. Stall worthy; Finance Committee —Alessrs S. Angel (conwn-r). K Webling, T. Begg, 8. G. M‘Dougn'l. S. n’ Brown, and T. Grimsdale; W< ; Committee —Afessrs R.
