One aspect of the better times generally experienced by the primary producers in Poverty Bay last year is that the exports from Gisborne were about £250,000 ahead in value of those s-ent overseas in 1927 (reports the Poverty Bay Herald). This means that the district is so much better off, while thefe are indications that 1929 may also see an even further increase. A number of factors have comLir'ed to bring about the increased value of the district’s exports. Last season was one of good supply and rising prices. The autumn was almost another summer, at least, so far as growth and production were concerned, in many eases of farming, and with the mild winter the spring was ushered in full of promise. A dry spell, when warm spring rains might have been expected, retarded the growth for a short time, but when rain did come the growth in the pastures was remarkable..
