London's first white-coated traffic policeman made his appearance in a recent week-end at Chelsea bridge. These, coats arc to be issued to a number of London point-duty men as an experiment. Hitherto motorists have found it difficult, owing to the confusion of light, to see either the policeman’s signals or the policeman himself. White coats have been used with success in the provinces for some time.
