ft o. 12. “ Aha,” said Teddy. “ There’s a lady in distress.” He was referring to a bonny little girl who was trying to reach high enough to Sost a letter in the letter-box. She was beginning to shed a tear when le Chums arrived on the scene. “ Excuse me, dear,” said Teddy, politoly. “ Will you allow us to help youP” “ I wish you would, Teddy,” she replied. “It is the first trine Mummy has sent me to post a letter to Daddy, and I didn’t want to go back and say I couldn’t do it.” “ Half a jiffy,” exclaimed Teddy “ Here, Golly, old chap, just you climb up this staff whilst I hold it upright, and then you can pop the letter through the hole.” No sooner said than done, and wasn’t the little maiden pleased! They were just turning away when up came the postman to empty the box. “Well, bless me,” said Golly, “if he had been a bit sooner he could have saved us the bother of climbing up to post that letter.” “ Never mind,” replied Teddy. “ We’ve done our daily good deed.” (To be Continued.)
