CAUGHT IN DRIVING BELT. HAMILTON, November 27. The inquest on the young man named Aubrey Taylor, who was killed at Arapuni- through being caught in the driving belt at the pumping station, was adjourned till to-morrow. The deceased was discovered by a companion lying on the floor of the station. THREE CARS IN COLLISION. TE KUITI, November 27. Three cars were involved in a motor collision which occurred between the racecourse and Te Kuiti at 5.55 last night. A car driven by F. E. West, of Taumarunui, struck one driven by Joe Hoe, when attempting to pass it. Hoe’s car was thrown off the road, and West’s struck another car head on which was coming in the opposite direction and was driven by Innes Jones. The four occupants of West’s car suffered injuries. Sam Sarah, of Taumarunui, received severe injuries to his head and other minor injuries; and Cecil A. Boles, of Taumarunui, injuries to his head and face, cuts about the head and arms. Esme Henderson, of Te Kuiti, had his shoulder bone injured, and Jim Vujich received severe cuts to his head and right arm. West received bad cuts on the right arm from broken glass. Reports this morning show that all the injured are making satisfactory progress. All the occupants had a remarkable escape.

WINDOW-DRESSER KILLED. AUCKLAND, November 29. A young man named Arthur S. Richards, employed by Messrs John Court, Limited, as a windowdresses, was killed to-night through falling down a lift well from the sixth floor.’ He was working overtime on interior decorations. Apparently he thought the lift was at the sixth floor, but it was at the bottom. MUSTERER KILLED. WAIROA, November 30.

Harry _ Rehia, a Maori, aged 22, fell over a cliff at Ormond’s Kini Kini station (Mahia) yesterday while mustering sheep. He died shortly afterwards as the result

of his injuries. At the inquest to-day a verdict of accidental death was returned. BOY KILLED BY DRAY. HAWERA, November 30. Fatal results attended a distressing accident on a farm property on the outskirts ™ Hawera yesterday afternoon, when Roy Keith Young, aged four years and a-half, the infant son of Mr and Mrs 11. W. Young was killed as the result of his body being caught beneath a dray, which capsized. The deceased was one of a family of 13. MISSING MAN FOUND DEAD. AUCKLAND, December 1. According to a incsage received by the police from Rangitoto this afternoon the body of Henry James Whitley has been found on the top of Rangitoto. M~ Whitley was a we'l-known business man of the firm of Messrs W. S. Whitley and Sons, gum brokers and produce merchants. He had been-inissing since last Saturday. He left his office that day at noon as usual and was not seen again. Mr VS hitley was 56 years of age. INJURIES AND EXPOSURE. PALMERSTON N., December 1. While riding to his work yesterday morning on a farm at Pohangina Henry Shadbolt, aged 60, met with a nasty accident. His horse apparently fell with him in the rough country. Shadbolt lay exposed to the rain and later to a hot sun for 14 hours with a fractured thigh and injuries to his other leg. He was found in a semi-conscious condition last evening by a search party and conveyed to hospital. DEATH UNDER ANTESTHETIC. NEW PLYMOUTH, December 1. At the adjourned inquiry into the death of Philip Etheridge Blackman, who died during an operation at the Public Hospital on November 20 while under an anaesthetic the coroner found that death was due to heart failure and that no blame attached to the hospital authorities.
