It was in one of the leading bookshops of Christchurch. A woman walked in, and addressed the girl attendant at a book counter (reports the Christchurch Sun). “Pepys’ Diary, please,” she said. The bright young thing behind the counter did not need a second to think it over. “ Stationery department,” she said.
