FLAT RATE FREIGHTS.
WELLINGTON BOARD’S RESOLUTION. WELLINGTON, September 27. The Wellington Jlarbour Board is again on the warpath against the system of flat rate freights from -all ports in the Dominion. Opponents stated that evidence was accumulating from year to year against it. '■’essels were kept 48 days per six months on the coast at an estimated loss of £555,400. A far quicker and more efficient service could be given if the time were cut down. One speaker said the system was a relic of the sailing ship days. Eventually the motion of protest passed two years ago was reaffirmed, with only one dissentient. «
