COUNTY CLERKS.
FORMATION OF INSTITUTE. WELLINGTON, September 26. About 70 delegates from all parts of both islands attended the inaugural meeting of the county clerks of New Zealand to-day, when it was unanimously decided to form an organisation to be known as the New Zealand Institute of County Clerks. A constitution was adopted, and the Dominion was divided into seven districts, comprising the following branches: Auckland 30, Taranaki 10, Wellington 21, Hawke’s Bay 14, West Coast 8, Canterbury (including Marlborough) 29, Otago and Southland 15. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr F. C. Perry (Waitomo); vice-presidents, Messrs G. Kelby (Ashburton) and F. H. Hudson (Horowhenua); secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Harding (Hawera); executive— Messrs C. A. Cawkwell (Auckland),. H. H. Richardson (Wellington), B. G." Signal] (Hawke’s Bay), R. Ellis (Taranaki), D. J. Evans (West Coast), A. A. Readdie (Canterbury), and J. Logan (Otago and Southland); auditor, Mr G. Derbyshire (Wanganui). _ ■ Steps are to be taken to register the institute under the Incorporated Societies Act.
