As portion of the general scheme to straighten up the waterfront, the Auckland Harbour Board proposes to construct a viaduct from Prince’s wharf to link up with, the reclamation embankment at Freeman s Bay, at an estimated cost of £90,000 (says the Auckland Star). Plans of the scheme were submitted to a recent meeting of the board by the engineer (Mr D. Holderness), together with a suggestion that the steel that would be required for the viaduct should be ordered so that construction, work might be commenced when the vehicular ferry landing at Mechanics’ Bay and the breastwork at Campbell’s Pojnt were nearing completion. The whole question was referred to th? board in committee for consideration.
