If exposed to air benzine quickly evaporates, and one pint will vaporise in 1000 cubic feet of air. If to this a light or spark if ?i ppl - led .. 1 . t wdl , ignite in the open, but it the ignition takes place under compression, that is, in an enclosed space, it will explode. Where there is benzine gas in a confined space, it will be attracted toil ards ii. ea t, and if fire is adjacent there cannot fail to be danger. After benzine has leaked in a confined space, thd fumes will lurk about for a considerable time. Benzine, therefore, is a highly dangerous commodity.
