TIMARU-CHRISTCHURCH ROAD RACE.
LACK OF SUPPORT CRITICISED. CHRISTCHURCH, September 13. Criticism of some Christchurch firms in not giving practical support to the Timaru to Christchurch road race this year was voiced at a meeting of the North Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union. In a report upon a canvass of the town, the president, Mr-W. J. Walter, said that some of the people had turned them down. These included cycling firms, and the speaker urged that the clubs should patronised those firms which supported the race. The prize money was not as good as it was last year.
