DUNEDIN CAGE BIRD CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. . The annual meeting of the Dunedin Cage Bird Specialist Club was held on Thursday evening, the president, M” -Baker, in the chair. There was a fair attendance of members and four new members were elected. The chairman moved the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, and congratulated the club on the conclusion of another successful season, and appealed to members to see that there was more competition for the club trophies and championships in the coming year.—The motion was seconded by Mr R. J. Brown, and carried. Office-bearers were elected as follows: President, Mr G. H. Baker; vice-presi-dents—Messrs Auld, Rix, Fountain, Smith; secretary, Mr C. W. Rix; treasurer, Mr W. A. M‘Knight; auditor, Mr N. C. M. Fountain; committee—Messrs M. M Goun, R. Smith, P. Neilson, A. Lye, A. Day. - The presentation of the prizes won during the year was made by the chairman as follows:—Winning Yorkshire pair, 0. W. Rix; Yorkshire table show’, A. Gwilliams; Norwich, table show, A. Day; Yorkshire championship, R. Smith; Norwich championship, A Day. A motion providing for the adoption of the New Zealand standard in regard to birds as set out in the Harry Norman plates, in preference to the British standai d, was carried, this standard to apply to all future shows, and judges to be instructed to act accordingly. It was agreed that the schedule should be completely overhauled and that a committee consisting of the chairman, the secretary, and Messrs Brown and M N ight should be appointed to carry out. the work. It was also resolved to include classes for ladies at future shows. The following names were put forward to form the nucleus of a judges’ list from wdiich the club’s nominees for appointment to big shows might be taken:—Messrs 0. E. Burley, R. Sinclair, 0. W. Rix, M. M'Goun, G. Nicholson, E. J. Chronican, W. A. M‘Night, H. Colscn, 0. E. Brown, and R.° j’ Brown.
In connection with the club’s nomination of judges the secretary was instructed to write to the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club asking that in future any nomination for judges forwarded by the club should receive preference when the judges were being appointed. The following remit to the South Island Association was introduced, but it was pointed out that it had already been approved-, by the association, whereupon it was decided to write to that body pointing out that it was not observed, and that no championship shows be awarded to clubs that do not provide cages.
