Speaking at the weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club on Thursday, Mr A. J. Mills, of the firm of Messrs A. J. Mills and Co., produce brokers, of London, who is visiting New Zealand a second time after a lapse of 18 years, paid a tribute to the quality of the roads in South Taranaki. Having lately driven through the whole of Taranaki, he expressed the opinion that, in the respect of engineering and surface, these were as good as any roads in the world, the concrete roads of the United States not excepted. Mr Mills said he had not travelled over the roads in the south, but he excited a burst of laughter by adding that he had no doubt they were equally good.
