A HUSBAND’S PETITION.

DESERTED BY HIS WIFE. TRIPLETS BORN TO RESPONDENT. AUCKLAND, August 23. To be blessed with triplets after deserting her husband and living with another man was the experience of Winifred Adelaide Blanche M’Cormaek, from whom John Arthur Conway M’Cormaek sought a divorce in the Supreme Court this morning. Petitioner said that the marriage took place in Brixton, England, in 1918. The couple then came to New Zealand and lived at Wellington and then at Okaihau, North Auckland. Two children were born. In October, 1922, the wife disappeared with the co-respondent, Ernest Smith, who was working in the district. She left the children to his (petitioner’s) care. Petitioner searched in vain for his wife. Smith’s parents refused to disclose her place of residence. He subsequently discovered her at -Westport, living with the co-respondent. She wrote in cordial terms to petitioner, and inquired after the health of himself and the children. The respondent considered, however, that her action was for the best, and incidentally mentioned that she had had triplets by Smith. Their photograph had appeared in an Auckland weekly paper of September. 1927. “ We have been able to obtain a copy,” said Mr Singer, who appeared for the petitioner. “There they are, your Honor, exhibits A, B, and C.” The letter added that it would not be much use the petitioner asking for damages, “ because'thc triplets have cost us so much.” Mr Justice Reed granted a decree nisi, petitioner to have interim custody of the children.
