THE C.O.D. SYSTEM.

WELLINGTON, August 23. A deputation representing the traders of the Dominion waited on the Prime Minister (Mr J. G. Coates) to-day in regard to the C.O.D. system, asking that it should be-withdrawn. Mr H. M. Campbell, M.P. (Hawke’s Bay), supporting the speakers, said the system was originally adopted in the interests of Empire trade and unity, but it was found that it was acting contrary to the interests of traders in this country Mr Coates, replying, said the only real point at .issue was whether th* Government should act as agent for firms which were operating on the C.O.D. system-, The figures he had been able to obtain went to show that the system was • coming more generally into use.
