BANKRUPT SOLICITOR.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 22. Creditors met to-day in response to an advertisement calling a meeting to conaider their claims against J. B. Batchelor, the Christchurch solicitor who has been missing since August 7, and foi whose arrest a warrant was recently issued for alleged misappropriation of trust moneys.- Batchelor was last seen in Wellington, and is believed to be still in the North Island. The press was excluded from the meeting, which it was decided to hold privately. There were about 50 persons, men and women, present. It is stated that the amount of the trust moneys unaccounted for is in the vicinity of £lO,OOO. The meeting decided to declare Batchelor a bankrupt, and Mr C. S. Thomas was appointed to act on behalf of the creditors in preparing the petition.
