THE DINGWALL ESTATE.
'ENDOWMENT OF ORPHANAGE. AUCKLAND, August 21. The establishment of an orphanage in terms of the handsome bequest made under the will of Mr D. M. Dingwall has been brought within measured distance of accomplishment with the handing over of the estate from the executors to the trust board. A balancer sheet, which has now been prepared, shows that after payment of death duties assets worth £198,671 remain. After the payment of £257 to sundry creditors the net value of the estate will be £198,414. As expressed in the will the primary object of pie orphanage is for “ the shelter, maintenance, and upbringing of children born or domiciled in New Zealand of any race or creed who are orphans or destitute, whose parents are in straitened circumstances, or who, in the opinion of the trustees, would be better cared for, brought up, and educated in the orphanage.” Within a year it is expected that the orphanage will have been built. A site comprising 36 acres has been secured at Papatoetoe, and the board is now in consultation with the architects as to the details of the plans.
