NEW MORTUARY CHAPEL.
Messrs Macdonald and Weston, who some years ago took over the old-estab-lished undertaking and monumental business carried on for many years by Messrs Kingsland and Ferguson at Invercargill, have recently built a handsome and up-to-date Mortuary Chapel, undertaker’s private room, and office at their Spey street department. The view of the new building is published in the pictorial section of this issue. The interiors of the mortuary chapel, private room, and office are beautifully finished in figured red pine and calcimined work, and the furnishings throughout are quiet and dignified. , The acquisition of this mortuary chapel is sunplying a long-felt want in Invercargill in cases where residents from the country districts have passed away in the city, and Messrs Macdonald and Weston have already received many expressions of appreciation and thanks for this additional service in their undertaking department. The monumental department at the corner of Dee and Leet streets is also progressing on the right lines. Electric hammers of the latest design for the working and carving of marble and stone have recently been installed. A fine motor lorry carries the masons and their material to any cemetery in the Southland district, while the staff are all experienced and practical monumental masons. These factors, together with direct buying of granite and marble from the markets of Scotland and Italy, enable Messrs Macdonald and Weston to give the best possible value in their monumental business at lowest costs.
,We congratulate these young New Zealanders on their enterprise’ and progress.—2lB2B. ■
