Discussing the question that the average farmer has his clock well ahead of standard time, a speaker at a daylight saving meeting in Napier stated that on a large Hawke’s Bay sheep station the “ boss ” was in the habit of putting the clock forward (states the Napier Daily Telegraph). “By the time mid-summer arrived we were nearly three hours ahead of Napier time. Nobody objected, in fact, we were pleased with early rising.” The statement met with general approval.
