The Department of Agriculture wrote advising, that it would have no objections to importing roots from Great Britain providing they were accompanied by a certincate of freedom from disease duly signed by a responsible officer of the Department of Agriculture in the country of origin.—The letter was noted. ‘ I Tlie Finance Committee recommended that accounts amounting to £205 14s should be passed for payment. Messrs J. Macdonald, of Timaru, and Simon Fleming, of Crookston, have accepted the position of judges at the horse parade.

The St. John Ambulance Association wrote thanking the society for a donation of £2.2 s towards its funds, and assuring tin society that at all times the services of the sisters were st its disposi.l. The Red Cross Convalescent Home wrote thanking the so'.iety for granting it free space at the Winter Show, and advising it of the results of the sale. The Royal Agricultural Society submitted several resolutions which had been carried at the recent conference in connection with the exhibiting of sheep at the show.—lt was decided to refer the suggestions to the Sheep Committee for its consideration. The Royal Society also subimtted a letter asking the association to submit the names of competent men to judge in the various sections.—lt was decided to refer the matter to the various sections to submit names. The Canterbury Agricultural College wrote advising that it was necessary to appeal tn the Government for further funds to enable it to carry on operations successfully.—lt was decided to support fhe Lincoln College’s request. The folowing special prizes were received :•

The Clydesdale Horse Society offered'a gold medal for the best yearling or two-year-old filly. The New Zealand Friesian Association (Otago branch) advised that the association would- offer £l2 as prizes for group classes at the Summer Show.—lt was decided to thank , the association for its donation and to subsidise die amount by 5C per cent. Mr -A. Stewart, Law Courts Hotel, offered £2 2s for the best spring-van horse; 1 The New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheep Breeders’ Association advised that the South Island Champion Shield for the best Romney ram and Romney ewe would be competed for at the Summer Show. The Southdown Sheep Society of New Zealand advised that a gold medal had been allotted for the ’ best two-tooth Southdown ram ir. the show from flocks registeiM with the society. The Forbury Park Trotting Club wrote advising that it would contribute £lO 10s for prize money to be allocated in the trotting events. The Otago Hunt Club advised that it would again present two runs for the hunting events. The Milburn Lime Cement Company offered one six-tor truck of lime for the forthcoming Summer Show.—The offer was referred to the Exe utive Committee. The Shorthorn Society of New Zealand wrote advising that the question of this year’s allocation of shield had not yet been decided, but in all probability one would be allotted for the Summer Show. The president considered it was satisfactory to receive all these special prizes, and moved that the secretary should be requested to write and thank the donors for their support am. interest.
