INVENTIONS & APPLIANCES OF INTEREST TO ACRICULTURE.
DISC HARROW. This double action disc harrow has the usual arrangement of pivotally connected ’ gangs, but adjustment is provided, whereby the following discs can be made to cut
vrt?i een t ra sks of the forward discs. j “’’a P° s i(’ ve adjustment is provided, yet, when turning corners or at the end of a traverse, means are provided for the necessary slewing. ATTACHMENT FOR BINDERS. This device, which can be applied to practically all the usual types of binders* is designed to correct. weakened or distorted grain springs. A cross bar at-
tached to the top of the springs carries ai m u , , an arm to which is attached a tension spring, which can be adjusted to keep the grain spring in proper relation to the grain platform. AUTOMATIC POWER DRIVEN HARVESTER THRESHER. Built as one single unit this machine includes a tractor which can, when desired, be separated for general purposes. The whole of the operating and propelling mechanism is driven automatically from
the traction engine. Cut grain is conveyed from the ends of the sickle to its centre, thence rearwardly to the thresher. The thresher mechanism can be operated while the machine is standing still. HAND CULTIVATOR. This simple combination hand plough and cultivator consists of a single wheeled frame, on which is mounted a bent bar carrying a cultivator unit at one end and
a plough unit at the other. By turning the machine over either unit is instantly available without carrying loose parts or tools. COMBINATION LISTER CULTIVATOR AND RIDGE WORKER. Rotation of the tongue of this machine steers the front wheels by means of a pivoted link arrangement. Draft is transmitted to the rectangular frame through a transverse head shaft augmented by a'
balanced cable pull. Various types of plough points can be used, these being supported fore and aft in cranks operated by hand levers for raising. The discs behind the ploughs can be inclined in or out to cover the furrow or spread the earth wider. ADJUSTABLE PLOUGHSHARE, The inventor’s object here is to provide an adjustable connection between share and mould board, whereby the former can be raised by set screws to bring it into realignment with the former when it be-
comes worn. This not only gives longer life but. in case of replacement of the share, allows for substitution by a share of different thickness. In the view shown the share is upended.
