JOHN M'GLASHAN COLLEGE.

A meeting of the John M'Glashan College Board, was held on Friday. The Rev. J. Kilpatrick presided, and the Revs. J. J. Cairney, A. C. W. Standage, A. C. Watson, Dr Merrington, Professor Davies, Messrs J. M'George, T. C. Ross, and C. Gilray were also present. The principal reported that the school had reopened after the holidays on May 29, and the same day the primary’ school inspector visited it. Five new boys had been enrolled, three of them being boarders. There were now 57 boarders, the largest number since 1921. . The dancing class, under Mr Oxley, and dancing class,.under Miss Wallace, were being held this term, and Mr M'Gregor was holding a class in wool classing. At the end of last term 39 boys gained certificates for swimming, Mr Buxton having charge of this class. E. M. Elder gained first place for Otago in the Victoria League essay competition.
