NOTES. • N. Leader, well known as a High School cricketer, has joined the Caversham. Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club. Arthur Frye, who attended every harrier run held by the Caversham Club for seven years, is unable to participate in the club’s activities this winter owing to the fact that he will be working out of town on Saturday afternoons. - • Air W. S. Buchanan, reporting secretary for the Leith Club, was the recipient of a presentation from his clubmates prior to his departure for Christchurch. Air Buchanan was one of the founders of the club, which came into existence in 1925, and was captaiir of it for the first two years, while since then he has filled the position of reporting secretary. The following runs will be held by the Dunedin Harrier and Amateur Athletic Chib during the first half of the "season: —May 12, Alornington School; May 19, Bungalow Tea Rooms, St. Kilda; Aly 26, one mile and a-half maiden race (club run to follow); June 2, open; June 9, Edmond Cup race; June 16, Anderson’s Bay School; June 23, Halfway Bush; June 30, Port road race. AN ATHLETE HONOURED. DANNEVIRKE, May 8. Under the auspices of the Dannevirke Amateur Athletic Club, a complimentary social was tendered to Walter J. Lankey, of Dannevirke, the New Zealand one mile and three mile walking champion, the Australian and New Zealand threemile walking champion, and also the ono and three-mile champion of the country clubs, and the Wellington provincial champion. He was complimented upon his achievements by the Alayor (Air A. J. Runciman) and presented with an inscribed gold watch by the members of the. club and local supporters. Lankey, smee he has been working, has started in 51 events, has won 29, been second in 12, third in three, and seven times unplaced. In the course of his reply, he regretted that some of. the critics in the press in large centres had not been too kindly disposed towards him, probably because he came from the country.
