Petty thieving has taken a new turn in New Plymouth during the past weekend (reports the Taranaki Herald). One has often heard of “ penny in the slot ” machines being broken open and the contents taken, but a case occurred last Sunday night of a whole machine of this type, used for dispensing chewing gum, being removed from the outside of the premises of a sweets shop in Devon street.
