FRESH PARSLEY AND MINT ALL WINTER.
Parsley is required in the kitchen prac tically every day of the year, and it becomes rather a problem at times to keep up supplies all winter. Place bncKs about the bed and lay a frame sash or
sash made with one of those glass substitutes on top; the sides being open, this keeps the plants flesh and vigorous for a long time. Cover another section with a rough framework of poles or 'ay the pea trainers, raised on bricks, over the plants. Garden mats thrown on top of these in frosty weather will protect the border most considerably.' Lastly, plant a fair number in boxes or pots Place these meantime at the foot of a wall or in the frame, and in due course they can be cropped, or they can oc taken into the greenhouse in spring, where, if fed • t times, they will crop 'or a long period. Squares of mint may now be lifted from the mint bed and placed in boxes. Let such squares be about Sin deep and pack soi] round them in die box. Placed over a hotbed or kept in the greenhouse such clumps will yield many nice pickings of fresh mint as required. As one supply begins ’o deteriorate lift another and so keep plentyready for any cal 1 from the kitchen.
