Additional interest is to be lent to the New Zealand section of the Am-kland Art Gallery, which comprises a collection of paintings by Dominion artists, by the inclusion of a landscape by Mr W. Robert Johnson, the Auckland-born painter, who recently held an exhibition in th? city of sketches painted during his holiday in New Zealand (states the Star). The picture. which is entitled “ The Dress Circle, Kawhatau Valley,” is a valuable example °f Mr Johnson’s work. Purchased for 25gns, it will shortly be hung in the gallery.
