Additional interest is to be lent to the New Zealand section of the Am-kland Art Gallery, which comprises a collection of paintings by Dominion artists, by the inclusion of a landscape by Mr W. Robert Johnson, the Auckland-born painter, who recently held an exhibition in th? city of sketches painted during his holiday in New Zealand (states the Star). The picture. which is entitled “ The Dress Circle, Kawhatau Valley,” is a valuable example °f Mr Johnson’s work. Purchased for 25gns, it will shortly be hung in the gallery. The collection already includes two paintings by the same artist, both of wdiich are impressions of the Cloth Hall, Ypres, during the war.
