NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS.
ANNUAL MEETING. WELLINGTON, February 23. The annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of New Zealand (Ine.) was held to-day. In his presidential address the Chairman (Mr C. W Earle) dealt with the newsprint situation, advertising, labour, and other matters of importance to newspaper proprietors. A motion was carried recording the association’s regret that the Gaming Bill brought before Parliament last session had been blocked, thus preventing an amendment of the law relating to the publication of totalisator dividends. A resolution was earned expressing appreciation of the arrangements made by the Customs Department to facilitate the handling by the newspaper press of the details of the tariff alterations made during Last session of Parliament. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting at Rotorua. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr C. W. , Earle ; General Committee —Messrs A. M. * Burns, C. S.
