SUNDAY TRAMS.

HEAVY LOSS IN CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, January 16. Tramless Sundays were hinted at by members of the Christchurch Tramway Board at the Conciliation Council this morning when the tramway dispute was being heard. Amongst the employees’ claims • were Sunday privileges. “ I think it is worth while considering the question of cutting out trams on Sundays,” said Mr W. Hayward. “We get slightly higher fares on Sundays, but on the Other hand we pay much higher wages. The Tramway Board is now losing £2OOO on Sunday trails.” “ I think it ia a very good idea,” said Mr J. A. Flesher. “If not all the lines, at least some of them which do not pay should be cut out.” The question was left at that.
