CHIROPRACTORS’ ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The eighth annual conference of the New Zealand and Australian Chiropractors’ Association has just been concluded at Christchurch. There wits a representative attendance, members being present from Auckland, Napier, Masterton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and Gore. Mr J. A. Scott, president occupied the chair. The report, which showed a very healthy condition in respect to membership and finance, also referred to the energetic efforts which had been made by a member of the Palmerston North Hospital Board to have chiropractic introduced into the local hospital. Mr F. J. Ryder, the member in question, had received from several other members promises of hearty support for his proposal, but the chairman (Sir James Wilson, l intimated that he had been advised that the board had no power under the existing Act to give effect to the motion that had been tabled, so that the matter was not brought to a definite issue.

The following were elected officers for the year President and secretary, Mr J. -A. Scott; vice-president, Mr J." P. Colwill; treasurer, Mr J. M. Craig; committee— Messrs T. Giles (Auckland), A. H. Thomson (Dunedin!, W. C. Lawson (Palmerston North), A. R. Mackay (Gore), ,and J. Gilej (Dunedin). Important amendments to the association’s co-operative insurance scheme, in the direction of enlarging its scope, were moved by the president, and were unanimously agreed to; and the following were appointed a Chiropiactic Defence Committee for the year:—Messrs J. A. Scott. J. M. Craig, T. Giles, J. P. Colwill and A. H. Thomson. The question of making arrangements with two well-known American chiropractic professors, who are likely to visit New Zealand, for a short post graduate course at Wellington in the later developments of chiropractic technique was held over for further consideration. It was decided that the next conference should be held in Wellington.
