As the unemnloyed crossed Gloucester street into Manchester street on their wav to the Christchurch City Council a motor car camo round the corner, and one of the workless was bumped .by it and sent sprawling (says, the Sun). He was lucky, for the car driver pulled up just in time to stop the machine from running him over. The driver also was lucky. He was immediatelv surounded by shoutin- men. whoso gesticulations were violent. But their protest went no further, although for a moment it looked as if there were going to be trouble.
