WING WHISPERS.

WELLINGTON, January 12.
Dear Pasquin,—Since the conclusion of ! the Gilbert and Sullivan season on. Saturday night the Opera House bears: a deserted appearance. Wellington had, become quite used to the sight of queues waiting patiently for the opening of doors, and we now miss these little’ gatherings. The final presentation onSaturday was of “ The Gondoliers,” and a large house assembled to farewell the favourites. Many floral offerings went upand round to dressing rooms, and as a signal favour Gustave Slapoffski was coaxed up to the stage to reply to the plaudits. The conductor made a neat little response on behalf of the principals.
The next big attraction is “ Rose Marie,” who is due on January 27, with all the charm that is hers. Wirth’s big circus has been delighting huge audiences at matinee and evening performances, and during the whole season the weather has been ideal. This is unusual, as it is generally reckoned that the advent of a circus means rain. The show continues till Saturday night. Fullers’ programmes are bigger and better each week, and we shall be sorry to lose Gale Wyer when he goes. Sir Benjamin Fuller is in town, en route for Australia, but he will return later to open, the new Auckland house.
