“I suppose you bad a vary successful day at the races,” queried counsel of a witness at. the Wanganui Courthouse last Friday (states the Chronicle). “ Aw, yes, ' replied witness, who was of Scandinavian extraction, “I struck five firsis and two seconds.” Questioned further, witness declared, much to tlio envy of listeners at the rear of the court, that ho had five wins on the second day.
