No. 11. THE JOINER.
" What a funny noise,” said Teddy, as they passed a joiner’s shop. “ It lust sounds the same as you do when you try to sing!” “ Excuse me,” retorted Golly, “my voice does not resemble someone sawing wood —I’ve had it trained ” “Well,” replied Teddy, “ all I can say is that it must have run wild’ again!” As they entered the shop the joiner was busy sawing wood. “ Hello, Chums!” he said genially. “ What can I make for you—a coffin?” “ I think Golly may soon need one, sir,” said Teddy, “ for he’s beeq coughin’ all morning.” They were very interested, watching the joiner at work with plane and chisel, but when he got busy with the great circular saw, they' became quite nervous, and bolted from the shop. “ I don’t want to be a joiner,” said Golly, decisively. “I mighty happen one day to slip on to that saw, and I should be awfully cut upi about it!” And with a sigh the Chums once more resumed their questi :or a job—and adventure.
