The* deposits of refractory ores in (ho Thames edast area have been the causa of much speculation as to the means oE mining them. A syndicate; backed up with' German money, has not been hoard of lately, though it is said they are waiting for the report of the analyst. At the same time the ground is being attended to. and a large amount of excavating and “ unwatering ” work has been accomplished in the hills under the supervision of qualified mining engineeis. The refractory ore deposits.' if the analyst’s report is satisfactory, will prove a bigger asset to Thames than gold, professor M. A.
