AN UNDISCHARGED BANKRUPT
CHARGE AGAINST A MAORI
AUCKLAND, August 11
A Maori named Te Kati Thompson pleaded guilty in the /Yuckland Police Court to three charges of obtaining credit for £lO7 9s and £67 12s from Edwin Sayers, for £l’2o from Mrs Hughes Jones, anil for £56 from Grafton Bridge Flats, Ltd., without disclosing that he was an undischarged bankrupt. Evidence was given that the first two debts were incurred for printing work, and the other two represented arrears of rent. The accused was adjudicated a bankrupt on November 26. 19’26. The debts proved amounted to £367, and the assets totalled £l2. At a meeting of his creditors it was discovered that accused had previously been adjudged a bankrupt at Hawera on November 8, 1922, and was still undischarged. The accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being fixed at £2OO.
