CAN YOU OBLIGE? TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —Can yo'u help me in the following difficulty)' Some years ago 1 read in a little booklet J advertisement for some proprietary mttiieine, I think) a bright little essay written by a Florentine noble (count) on the subject of dietary, which went to show how at about middle life he had, after years of excess in living, so reformed and improved himself in this respect that he came to enjoy the best of health conditions until very advanced years. His method applied more to a strict regulation • of quantity in the direction of food and drink (reducing as the years increased), rather than as to quality. The only other items 1 can remember in connection with him are of a carriage accident late in life, from which he easily recovered (attributing this to his condition due to good habits), and the mention of a light opera which he wrote in proof of the clearness of his faculties at an advanced period of his life. I am very anxious to find this little account again, but have entirely forgotten the name of the Count, though I have wade every inquiry at the booksellers’. My impression is that the author of the little essay must have been a well-known person, but I think the event dated back perhaps a century or so. Thanking you in anticipation of your help in this connection, —1 am, etc., Timaru, July 28 Italy.
