IMPROVEMENT IN REVENUE. "! 4 CHRISTCHURCH, March 7. Tiie improvement in revenue which commenced just before' the holidays continues, reported the Works and Traffic Committee at to-day’s meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board. The report further stated: —The returns for the four weeks endec, on February 6 show an increase in the number of passengers of 139,252, representing £2036. On one of the Sundays, January 30, a record was established, £782 being taken. The improvement has also extended to the buses, the revenue of which went up by £134. The “surplus” position has, however, not yet been reached. There has been also a gratifying decrease in the operating expenses as a whole. Traffic and power expenses have gone p, as was expected, but repairs and maintenance have gone down. The net decrease is £l3Bl. - The four weeks mentioned show a surplus, after standing charges are allowed for, of £3023.
