LAWN TENNIS

CANTERBURY v. OTAGO. INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH. CHRISTCHURCH, March 12. Teams representing the Canterbury and Otago Lawn Tennis Associations met in the annual inter-provincial fixture at Wilding Park to-day. The weather, although dull, was fine, and the conditions of play were all that could be desired. The visitors were at a disadvantage on the grass courts, but the games were all hard fought, and were closer in some instances than the scores indicate. The lawn tennis strength of both provinces was well represented, the Otago side being one of the best that has ever done battle for Otago. The Canterbury team was practically at full strength and except that I. A. Seay was not in it, was the same as that which played against Wellington. During his mixed doubles match against Bray and Mrs Gale, P. G. Greenwood strained a muscle in his left leg and was compelled to retire, his place being taken by B. ti. Loughnan.
