Raymond Woodward, aged 38, described by the chief detective as a notorious thief, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, to be followed by six months’ reformative detention, at the Auckland Police Court on a charge of stealing £5 10s from John Viscoe, a King Country visitor.
