M‘NAB STOCK SALE.
GORE, February 1. The fortnightly stock sale was held at M'Nab yards on Tuesday, there being a good attendance of farmers. Fat Sheep.—The entry comprised 228, and included some good wethers, but the butchers were not operating, and no sales were made. The best price offered was 25s 6d. but not accepted by the vendor. Store Sheep.—An entry of 1702 was forward, which is the largest offering for some time. A number of store lambs were forward, and there was good competition for them, prices ranging from 17s lOd to 19s Bd. Two large lines of store four, six, and eight-tooth wethers were offered, but both lots were passed in at 22s 6d and 235. A few pens of failing ewes were forward, and sales were made at from 9s 6d to Ils 3d. Fat Cattle.—The entry of fats comprised 32 head. Some good beef was penned, there being a lot of well-finished cows and heifers. A pen of four medium bullocks realised £9 7s 6d, while fat cows realised £4 5s to £6 17s fid, and well-finished heifers changed hands at £6 to £7 10s. Store Cattle.—Only seven head were penned. Springing heifers realised up to £5 10s, heifers and calves £4 2s 6d, and dairy cows (late calvers) £3 5s to £4 ss.
