Simply because they, know that only -grease will remove grease, and as theatrical make-up is compounded of grease, it is useless to attack it with “ •water! The ordinary woman who daily uses some sort of toilet cream before powdering rarely understands the. deleterious effect of this habit, unless the skin ia thoroughly cleansed of such accumulations before going to sleep at night. The pores of the skin become clogged, and the driedup outer scarf-skin, which should, come away' periodically as it wears itself out, it buried deeper and deeper by the daily smothering of powder. So most actresses use mercolized wax on retiring at night, for this has an ABSORPTIVE action which not only empties the pores of all foreign ’matter, but ENTIRELY REMOVES the decayed outer tissue which clings to the new skin in tiny scaly particles, preventing it., from revealing itself in all its freshness and charm. Just a little gentle massage with mercolized wax for ten nights or so. works wonders. First wash the face with warm water and while the skin is still damp, rub in the mercolized wax with the tips of the fingers all over the face and neck. Leave on until the morning, when, after bathing a refreshing smoothness is apparent which increases daily until the old skin is completely absorbed, and the fresh new complexion underneath is revealed in all its beauty.
