FIGURES FOR JANUARY. The Customs and excise duties for the month of January as as follow (the figures in parentheses being those for the corresponding period last year):—Customs, £77,757 5s (£101,356 18s 3d);'beer, £20,871 Us lid (£18,804 13s 9d). CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES. CHRISTCHURCH, January 31. The Customs returns for January, 1927 show that the net duty on beer collected during the month was £3782 2s Bd, as against £7480 5s Id for -January of the previous year. The dairy produce duties received totalled £242 0s Bd, as compared with £244 9s 2d in January, 1926, while the meat export levy rose from £2 10s 9d, the amount collected, in January last year, to £96 19s lOd. WELLINGTON RETURNS. WELLINGTON, January 31. - The Customs and beer duty collected -at the port of Wellington for January totalled £208,153 9s 2d and £4045 Us 9d respectively, against £236,428 18s 5d and £3933.6s 7d respectively for January, 1926.
