DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION.

MR CAUGHLEY’S RETIREMENT. WELLINGTON, January 31. Mr J. Caughley retires from the position of Director of Education as from to-day. At the last meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute the following motion dealing with Mr Caughiey’s services was passed :— ‘‘The executive of the New Zealand Educational Institute at its first meeting after the retirement of Mr- J. Caughley, New Zealand Director of Education, desires to place on record the following resolutions on behalf of members of the institute: — “(1) That the New Zealand Educational Institute regrets the retireemnt of Mr Caughley from the directorship of education, a position he has filled with distinction to himself and with enthusiasm for the cause of education. “(2) That the New Zealand Educational Institute desires to express sincere appreciation of the high ideals and successful administration of Mr Caughley as director, carried out in the face of many difficulties. “(3) That the New Zealand Educational Institute offers to Mr Caughley its thanks for. many past services, and expresse its desire that he may enjoy very many years of health and happiness in his retirement.”
