LONG FELT NEED SUPPLIED. AUCKLAND, February 4. From the beginning of the 1927 session and even earlier, in fact, the Auckland University College is to have a students’ hostel. The college has long needed one and now it has obtained it virtually without capital expenditure. The college has entered into a three years’ agreement with Mr R. Gordon Griffith, proprietor of the Mansion, a large private hotel, to provide male students with fpll board and lodging. Mr Griffith has also taken charge of the restaurant in the Students’ Union Building, at the college. Breakfast and supper will be served at the hostel and lunch and dinner at the Union, except at week-ends and in the long vacation. In response to a circular sent out at the end of last term 50 students agreed to go into residence in the hostel at the beginning of this session and a number of them have already taken tip their quarters there. . The college authorities hope that before the end of the year the number will be about 100.
