CASH ON DELIVERY.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. .WELLINGTON, January 27. A deputation of business men waited on t.ie Acting Prime Minister and the Post-master-General to-day to protest against the assistance given by the Postal Department to the cash-on-deliverv system at present operating between Great Britain and New Zealand. The deputation consisted of Messrs T. Forsyth M.P., and T. 0. IBishop (representing the New Zealand Drapers r Federation), D. A. Ewen (New Zealand Warehousemen s Association), M. M. Heinemann (Xyatehmakers "and Jewellers’ Association), H. C. South (Booksellers’ Association), and J. R. Simpson and A. Mackenzie (Wellington Chamber of Commerce). The objections of the retail dealers to the Post Office fiving special facilities to overseas manuacturers and sellers to the detriment of New Zealand shopkeepers were emphasised by the members of the deputation. - The general arguments were similar to those advanced by a recent, deputation to Ministers on the same subject.' The Ministers promised to consider the points raised, by the deputation and fur. uish a reply in writing.
