The popularity of the name ‘Thomas” as a Christian name is indicated (a northern paper emarks) by the fact that six men out of eight who met at recent business gathering answered to the name “Tom.” The party began with five men, off to inspect a suburban property. “Toms” flew round thickly in the conversation and it was discovered thaf’three of the party acknowledged the name. Subsequently three more men joined up at intervals, and it was discovered that each one, making the proportion six out of eight, claimed “Tom” as his Christian name.
