MOONEE VALLEY MEETING. MELBOURNE, January 22. The weather was fine and the going good at the Moonee Valley course. Much interest was displayed in the reappearance of Heroic on the track. Results:— William Reid Stakes. —Heroic. 9.10, 1: Quintus, 8.12, 2; Comus, 9.1. 3. Eight starters, including Pale Light. Heroic quicklv went to the front, led all the way, and won by ’ ee-quarters_of a length. Time, Imin 12isec —a course record. A.J.C. MEETING. SYDNEY, January 22. The Jockey Club’s anniversary meeting has commenced at Randwick. The course was heavy and sloppy. Results:— Challenge Stakes.—Donmoon, 7.2. 1; Garrula, 7.13, 2: Perriwoo, 8.1, 3. Thirteen starters. From a bad start Donmoon had a lot of leewa" to make up, but, going great guns, he overhauled the leaders after passing the distance, and, making a flying finish, won by two lengths and a-half.
