DEEP SEA FISHING.

FAMOUS AUTHOR’S JAUNT. AUCKLAND, January 22. Zane . Grey's auxiliary three-masted schooner, Fisherman, was towed out from, her berth at Queon’s wharf this morning by the tug Teawhina, and her departure whs watched with keen interest by a little crowd of idlers, very few of whom wouldi not have been very willing’ to change places with the fortunate people sitting or standing about the . poop of the yacht. It was one of Auckland’s idyllic summer days, not too hot, with a nice breeze blowing from the north, and the people who know the delightful bays and coves for which the yacht is bound could picture the very pleasant jaunt upon which the famous author and his guests were bound It is said the trin is costing the owner something, like £25,C00. which seems a lot of money, but the landlubbers who saw the spick and span craft go out this morning would admit it was a very charming way of spending one's money. The decks of the yacht looked verv crowded with such, an array of fishing launches —four in all. arid the bystanders Remarked that thev all bore the brand of local fishing launches—“AK 1172” and so on. Evidently licenses had to be taken out for these craft. -Crude oil is being vsed in the Fisherman’s engines, which give her a speed of about seven knots. v _ ■ ;
