A NEW ZEALAND ROWING EIGHT OF TWENTY-NINE YEARS AGO. The arrival of two eight-oared boats for the Otago Rowing Association last week establishes an interesting link with the past, for in the Otago Harbour in the earlier days some thrilling eight-oared contests were rowed. The Canterbury men were champions in 1894-97, the Wellington men won the Champion Pairs in 1898, and the Marlborough men the Champion Fours in 1898.
